DESIGN

The design process will generally include consideration of the following:- budget, siting and access, energy efficiency, spaces and their interrelation, structure and materials, intended use, compliance with, and the application of building codes and local council regulations.
For the successful completion of some projects however it may be necessary to include further design considerations such as; colour consultancy, joinery design, the selection of finishes, furniture, and architectural hardware. Any design process is dependent on having as much information as possible so that the final design will incorporate all of the client’s requirements. Therefore the client brief is important to the outcome of the design process.

CLIENT BRIEF

The development of a well researched brief is crucial to the outcome for the project design and documentation. The brief also forms a reference point for any alternative solutions that may need to be considered. A brief can be a written document describing your requirements, aspirations, and constraints for the project - such as the number of bedrooms, layout of the kitchen, dining, living areas, heights and volume of spaces, Environment/energy expectations, and finishes.

LAYOUTS

If you have preconceived ideas about the layout of your project then rough sketches of the layout would be helpful. If not, then a written list of all the spaces, approximate size, and their relationship to each other is a good start to the brief.

MATERIALS

A list of materials and/or desired finishes. Any photos, magazines and samples will help us understand your requirements.
